This is Max here, founder of MaxDividends.

In the last emails, we talked about the system. Now let me show you how it actually works in practice. Since you already have access to the app, this will be simple.

My goal is straightforward: build a portfolio that pays me growing income for years — without needing to constantly manage it. I don’t trade. I don’t follow daily market news. Most of the time, I do nothing — and that’s the point. Here’s how the app helps me do that:

➡️ 1) I always know where I stand.

At any moment, I can see:

– how much income I’m generating
– what’s coming next month
– which companies increased dividends
– how fast I’m moving toward my goal

No spreadsheets. No guessing.

➡️ 2) I don’t search blindly.

Instead of scanning thousands of stocks, I start with a curated list inside the app. You can find it here:

→ Tools → Top Dividend Stocks & Buy/Hold/Sell List

These are companies that already passed strict criteria — the same ones I personally track.

➡️ 3) I make decisions faster.

When I look at a company, I don’t dig through dozens of websites. I just type the name in the app and instantly see:

– dividend history
– revenue & profit trends
– debt levels
– valuation
– comparisons

The 5 pillars formula checklist — everything in one place.

➡️ 4) I don’t have to constantly monitor my portfolio.

If something changes — I get notified. In practice, I only watch two things: whether a company cuts its dividend or its financial score drops below 80. Otherwise, I leave it alone.

I prefer spending time with my family, talking to MaxDividends readers, exercising, or traveling. My companies keep doing their job — and the app does its job as well.

➡️ 5) I stay motivated — the app shows me where I’m going.

For example, I know my dividends already cover: rent, groceries, insurance, utilities. And I have a clear goal: $12,000/month in dividend income. Right now, I’m at about $7,600/month.

The app also shows small milestones along the way — dividend increases, progress badges, little “wins” that reflect how long I’ve been investing and how my income is growing. It may sound simple, but it actually matters.

If you haven’t done this yet, try this now:

→ Open the app
→ Go to Tools → Max’s Watchlist
→ Pick 1–2 companies
→ Look at their dividend history and fundamentals

How I Build My Watchlist

First off, here’s a quick look at how I choose companies to analyze for my core portfolio.

The short list of stocks I'm actively tracking right now is available directly in the MaxDividends App.

To build that list, I use the MaxDividends stock screener — a custom set of filters we’ve designed to help long-term income investors quickly find strong candidates.

I filter for companies from developed markets only — the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, the UK, and select European countries.

These markets have stronger investor protections, better transparency, and more consistent regulatory oversight. Most importantly, they tend to be politically aligned — which adds an extra layer of long-term stability.

My Filters (Quick and Clean)

Here's what I look for at the start:

  • Profitability: Local Financial Score 90+ (ideally 95+)

  • Dividend Score: 9+

  • 15+ years of uninterrupted dividend payments — no cuts, just steady growth

  • Payout ratio: Less than 60%, both current and 5-year average

  • Valuation: Undervalued relative to peers

These filters narrow the universe of thousands of stocks down to a much smaller, high-quality group worth my time.

Next Step: Sorting and Reading

Once I’ve got that list, I sort by dividend yield, from highest to lowest, and start reading — right from the top.

At this stage, I’m focused on two things: the income I’m getting today and the dividend growth potential going forward.

That’s why I pay close attention to dividend yield and MaxRatio. I like to see MaxRatio at 10+ — it gives a good sense of how much future income growth a business can realistically deliver. (More on this metric here.)

In the MaxDividends app, I can instantly open each company’s full analysis: business description, dividend history, financial scores, and other key indicators.

I also flag which companies I already own and how much I’ve invested in each — so I can easily spot new names worth a closer look.

What I Look for in Final Selection

When reading company reports, here are the three core metrics I care about:

  1. Current dividend yield is higher than the company’s 10-year average

(This often means the stock is temporarily beaten down — which I love.)

  2. Current P\E (Price to Earnings per share) is better than the 10-year average

(I want improving earnings — not a declining trend.)

  3. Price-to-book ratio below 1 (optional, but I love seeing it)

(This means the market is valuing the company at less than its book value. Rare, but powerful.)

When I find a company that checks all the boxes — strong finances, dividend reliability, high yield, growth, undervalued, and trading below book — it’s a green light for me. These are rare finds. Sometimes only 2–5 companies in the world qualify at any given time.

That’s exactly how I start when I look for new ideas.

Let Me Show You Something Else

I don’t know how your mind works, but mine works like this: I can’t go to a family therapist for advice on saving a marriage if I know they’ve been divorced three times. And I can’t seriously take diet and weight-loss advice from a specialist who clearly struggles with their own weight.

My logic is simple. I trust someone when I can see that they actually know what they’re talking about — when they’re in the same boat as me.

That’s how it works for me. How about you?

There are plenty of opinions out there. But today, I want to show you what I mean — not tell you. My own portfolio.

I don’t usually put it on public display. It’s something I normally share only with Premium Partners. But today is different. Today, I want to talk about a situation that matters deeply to me — one I personally went through. And there’s a good chance it’s your story too.

The kind of situation where circumstances change, time is limited, and you don’t have the luxury of overthinking. You have to make a decision — and make the right one.

From Savings to 5%+ Income: A Clear, Livable Plan

This is what my portfolio looks like today.

MaxDividends App - Dashboard

The truth is, about a year and a half ago, I found myself facing a very real question: what if things don’t go as planned? What if my other income streams disappear? Am I ready for that? How will my family live? Will I be able to support them? Will we be okay?

I’m 40 now, heading into 41.

And I’ll be honest with you — with every year, I don’t feel a stronger desire to work more and push harder. No. You might be surprised, but it’s the opposite.

And don’t get me wrong. Everything’s good. My motivation is solid. My health is in great shape, thank God.

It’s just that with every year, I feel a stronger pull to spend more time on the things I truly enjoy — to develop what genuinely interests me, even if it doesn’t promise flashy income or quick wins.

Time starts to feel more valuable than upside alone.

I want more quiet. More walks. More time at my kids’ events. Long summer vacations. I want to live.

I don’t have another 40 years to wait. What I do have is real uncertainty around current income. And real expenses that need to be paid today — not someday.

  • The electricity bill comes today.

  • School and daycare bills come today.

  • Swimming lessons, insurance — all of it needs to be paid now.

  • Probably just like in your life.

I didn’t manage to accumulate $10 million before this moment arrived. So what then?

Yes, I had saved a decent amount. But the question became: how do I deal with this challenge using what I already have?

A ~1% passive yield from broad market indexes won’t feed my family. It won’t cover insurance for my kids. And it won’t let me look at the future calmly.

I honestly don’t believe in all those “super-safe” option strategies everyone keeps hyping up. None of them have actually lived through 10+ years without blowing up. They always do — sooner or later. No, thank you.

So what’s the alternative? Just slowly spend down everything I worked so hard to build?

That’s not who I am. I’d rather rebuild the structure than quietly consume my savings and wake up one day with nothing left. And you might be feeling something similar yourself.

That’s when I realized I needed a system.

  • A system that answers hard questions.

  • A system that gives me independence and freedom.

  • A system that lets me live calmly.

  • A system simple as a hammer.

  • A system that creates an additional income stream — on my terms.

Today, I live off dividends.

My income keeps growing. My capital keeps growing too.

I’ve done it. And now I know the path — not from theory, not from someone else’s story, but from my own experience. I don’t just understand this — I live it.

These are real cash flows that cover my family’s expenses and give us peace of mind, allowing us to stay flexible and free in our choices today.

We managed to cross that critical gap between 2–3% and the 5%+ level — the point where passive income becomes the foundation, not a side feature. And from there, it keeps growing, bringing more freedom with every passing year.

I became a true dividend geek, exploring every corner of the dividend universe.

This isn’t magic. These are real numbers. This is a system in action. A system I personally follow — and one that works.

At the core of my success is the MaxDividends Research Platform (App) — the primary tool I rely on for every stage of my dividend investing journey.

Step-by-step guides and walkthroughs covering the platform’s main features and workflows.
